More About Surgery
Tubular breasts are a condition where the mammary gland has no pronounced base, becomes conical in shape, and the areolae are enlarged. The breasts are elongated and grow only towards the nipple and visually resemble tubes.
Tubularity of the mammary glands is caused by an innate predisposition and does not pose any threat to physical health. But it has a great impact on psychological health. The technique of the operation is painstaking and complex, but the results of the correction of tubular deformity are definitely worth the effort.
Tubular breast shape: preparation for surgery
Consultation. At the consultation, the doctor tells the patient how the operation and rehabilitation period will take place, which implants and techniques will be used.
Examination. The plastic surgeon assesses the condition of the tissues and measures the asymmetry. These data allow the doctor to draw up a complete ‘picture’ of the upcoming surgery.
Comprehensive examination. Before the operation, all patients undergo an ultrasound of the mammary glands, an ECG, undergo a number of tests (complete blood count and urine test, biochemical blood test, blood sugar, coagulogram, test for AIDS, HIV, hepatitis B and C, Wasserman reaction, blood type and Rh factor), and are also examined by a gynaecologist, therapist, and anaesthesiologist.
What implants are used?
The plastic surgeon at Yurchenko Team attaches great importance to the choice of implants. The specialist uses only implants certified in Ukraine by such manufacturers as Polytech, Mentor, Nagor, Motiva, Eurosilicone of anatomical or round shape. For repeated plastics and complex lifts, the plastic surgeon uses special Polytech Replicon polyurethane implants.
The latest innovation is Polytech BLite implants. They are 30% lighter than conventional analogues and reduce the risk of breast prolapse.
The manufacturers provide a lifetime warranty on the integrity of the implants. Relevant documents are issued to each patient upon discharge.
How the operation is performed
Tubular deformation of the mammary glands is a rather complicated operation. It takes up to 1.5 hours. General anaesthesia is used.
The incision is made along the areola (periareolar access). During the operation, it is necessary to make the gland flatter, to ‘level’ it. Then I install the implant of the desired shape. Next, I carefully spread the gland and connective tissue over the implant. In this way, it turns from a ‘tubular shape’ into a natural hemispherical shape.
For suturing, the plastic surgeon uses absorbable threads that do not require special removal after surgery. After rehabilitation, only a small white strip no more than 1 mm wide remains at the incision site, which is completely invisible.
The surgeon also uses special drains in his practice. They are removed after 24 hours when the patient is discharged from the clinic.
Rehabilitation
The postoperative period is essential for achieving the desired result. At this time, it is important to reduce the load on the skin, to ensure complete rest so that the implant is properly fixed.
In the first 24 hours, the patient is under observation in the clinic’s inpatient department. After discharge, the surgeon continues to monitor the recovery process. During the control examinations on days 3, 7, 14, the doctor assesses the condition of the breast, treats the sutures with antiseptics, and changes the plasters.
Plastic surgeons from the Yurchenko Team advise you to follow the following recommendations:
- Wear compression garments for a month. 1 set of such garments is included in the cost of the surgery. For the next two months, wear compression garments only for night sleep for two months.
- Make sure that water does not get on the incision (for 14 days). On the 14th day, the doctor examines the wound. If there are no signs of inflammation, you are allowed to take a shower. But the main thing is to treat the stitches with chlorhexidine.
- You can drive a car only 2 weeks after the operation. You should also refrain from air travel for this period.
- It is necessary to ensure a state of rest for 2 weeks, do not raise your arms above the shoulder, do not wear anything heavy.
- You should return to the gym gradually, under the supervision of a trainer, excluding stress on the shoulder girdle. It is allowed to fully return to training in 4-6 months.
- Avoid lifting your arms above the shoulders. It is better not to raise them high during the first month.
- Sleep only in a semi-sitting position, especially during the first week. You should not sleep on your stomach for up to 6 months, on your side for up to 3 months.
Complications after tubular breast correction surgery
Tubular breast correction surgery has its own risks and possible complications, and is rightly considered one of the most difficult of breast surgeries. Here are three of the most common complications:
- Capsular contracture. After implants are placed, a hard capsule can form around the implant, leading to pain, discomfort, and changes in the shape of the breast. The capsule is removed from the connective tissue only surgically during a second operation.
- Asymmetry. Despite careful planning and execution of the surgery, some asymmetry between the breasts may remain. This may require additional procedures to achieve the desired result. Depending on the degree of asymmetry, both lipofilling and implant replacement can be used.
- Infections and slow healing. As with any surgery, there is a risk of infection, which can delay the healing process and require antibiotic treatment or even a second operation.
Feeding children after surgery
Tubular breast correction may affect your ability to breastfeed, depending on the technique used by the surgeon. If the surgery does not affect the milk ducts and glands, there is a high probability that a woman will be able to breastfeed. However, this issue should be discussed with the surgeon before surgery to understand all the risks and opportunities.
Benefits of surgery at Yurchenko Team
Correction of tubular breast deformity requires great skill from the surgeon. Plastic surgeons from the Yurchenko Team work with such virtuosity. The peculiarity of the team is that each doctor has a clear specialisation. Tabular breasts are operated on by Denys Yurchenko, the leader of the Yurchenko Team. The practicing surgeon is a recognised specialist in the field of plastic surgery. He has even developed his own 70/30 anchor lift method. If necessary, he is consulted by Dmytro Mikulich, a mammologist, oncologist and reconstructive surgeon with unique experience in breast reconstruction after cancer and in complex reconstruction cases.
Why is this specialisation important?
There are more than 70 types of surgeries in the field of plastic surgery with many nuances. This division of responsibilities allows each doctor to improve his or her professionalism in a specific area, which guarantees high quality work. This is the basis of our philosophy. There are more than 70 types of surgeries in the field of plastic surgery with many nuances. Another advantage is the opportunity to choose one of three clinics in Kyiv, Bukovel and Limassol.
