More About Surgery

Almost 50% of patients eventually want to undergo a second surgery to reshape their implants. This happens for many reasons – weight changes, body proportions, preferences. But, in addition to aesthetic considerations, there are also medical indications for a second operation – replacement of damaged implants and capsular contracture.

Yurchenko Team implants are usually replaced in the following cases:

  • You want to change the shape of your breasts – to make them larger or smaller, rounder or, on the contrary, more natural in shape with the help of other implants;
  • You are not satisfied with the result of the first surgery. For example, there is asymmetry due to implant displacement or reversal, or your original problem has not been resolved;
  • The implant is damaged and needs to be replaced. As a rule, such cases occur with first-generation implants;
  • You have developed capsular contracture – the body perceives the implant as a foreign body and forms a capsule around it, which compresses and deforms the implant. As a result, the breast becomes hard and takes on an unnatural shape. Capsular contracture is a 100% indication for implant replacement.

Breast implant replacement: preparation

Consultation. At the appointment, the doctor discusses with the patient all the key issues related to the operation: types of implants, the specifics of the operation and rehabilitation after it, and much more. It is recommended that you decide on the desired breast shape before the appointment. At the appointment, the doctors will definitely consider your preferences.

Examination. The doctor takes measurements, assesses the condition of the tissues, skin elasticity, and the level of asymmetry or breast prolapse. At this stage, the optimal implant is determined, taking into account the patient’s wishes and physical data.

Comprehensive Medical Evaluation. Before the operation, all patients undergo an ultrasound of the mammary glands, an ECG, a number of tests (general blood and urine tests, biochemical blood tests, blood sugar, coagulogram, AIDS, HIV, hepatitis B and C, Wasserman’s reaction, blood type and Rh factor), and are examined by a gynaecologist, therapist, and anaesthesiologist.

What implants are used?

For breast augmentation, the doctor uses anatomical or round implants. These are the products of the following companies:

  • Polytech
  • Motiva
  • Eurosilicone
  • Mentor
  • Nagor

If a complex lift is planned, the plastic surgeon usually chooses special Polytech Replicon polyurethane implants. They securely fix the breast in the correct position. Their advantages are highly appreciated by leading plastic surgeons in Ukraine and the world.

If a woman is indicated for implants with a volume of more than 350 ml, Polytech BLite implants are preferred. They are 30% lighter than conventional analogues, which minimises the risk of repeated prolapse.

All implants are certifiedand have a lifetime warranty for integrity. Upon discharge, all supporting documents with unique serial numbers are issued.

Rehabilitation

During rehabilitation, the patient must follow the recommendations exactly. Restrictions relate to those everyday moments that can negatively affect the fixation of the implant in the breast, provoke its displacement.

Observation in the clinic during the first 24 hours is mandatory. Additional examinations are carried out on days 3, 7, 14 to disinfect the sutures, replace the patches, assess the condition of the breast and the patient’s general well-being.

For a successful recovery, it is necessary:

  • Wear compression garments around the clock for the first month. This is necessary to avoid implant displacement and prevent the development of complications. Each patient receives such a set of underwear after surgery. For the next two months, compression garments are worn at night.
  • Avoid getting water on the sutures. Therefore, showers and baths are not allowed for the first two weeks. After two weeks, you can take a shower, but be sure to treat the sutures with chlorhexidine.
  • Do not drive a car and avoid air travel for the first two weeks.
  • Breast implant replacement requires a maximum reduction in physical activity. In the first 14 days, it is strictly forbidden to raise your arms up, to do any load on the shoulder girdle. This is necessary to eliminate the risk of implant displacement. You can return to the gym gradually and only under the supervision of a trainer. In 4-6 months after the operation, you can gradually return to full-fledged gym exercises – both strength and cardio.
  • Follow your medical prescriptions, including antibiotics. No alcohol for the first week.
  • Sleep semi-sitting, especially during the first week. You should not sleep on your stomach for up to 6 months, on your side for up to 3 months.

Possible complications

Negative consequences after implant replacement can be:

Negative consequences after implant replacement can be:

  1. Capsular contracture. One of the main complications that can occur during breast implant replacement is capsular contracture. This is a condition in which the scar tissue that forms around the implant begins to shrink and harden. This can cause pain, discomfort, and changes in breast shape. Causes of capsular contracture include infections, bleeding or seromas (fluid accumulation), as well as individual characteristics of the body’s reaction to the implant. Treatment for this complication may include drug therapy or repeat surgery to remove and replace the implant and scar tissue.
  2. Implant rupture is another potential complication that can occur during breast implant replacement. It can occur both during the surgery and in the postoperative period. Rupture can be caused by mechanical damage during surgery, degeneration of the implant material over time, or trauma. Symptoms of rupture include changes in breast shape and size, pain or discomfort. In case of implant rupture, a second surgery is required to remove the remnants of the old implant and install a new one.
  3. Seroma is an accumulation of serous fluid (consisting of blood plasma) in the cavity formed after surgery. It can occur after surgery to install or replace breast implants, as well as after other surgical procedures.

Seroma can be formed due to various factors:

  • Tissue trauma. During surgery, tissues can be damaged, which leads to the formation of a cavity that the body fills with fluid.
  • inflammatory process. The body’s reaction to surgery or an implant can lead to the formation of seroma.
  • insufficient drainage. After surgery, drainage may be insufficient or improperly installed, leading to fluid accumulation.

To minimize the likelihood of complications after surgery, you should follow all the recommendations for the recovery period and choose professionals from the Yurchenko Team.

Why you should choose Yurchenko Team

The philosophy of the Yurchenko Team is simple, like everything ingenious – each doctor has a clear specialization. For example, the breast is operated on by plastic surgeons who perform corrective surgery exclusively on this area.  This is our philosophy. This serves as a guarantee that the plastic surgeon has practiced all possible techniques for correcting the shape and size of the breast.  Breast implant replacement surgeries are performed by

Denis Yurchenko, the ideological inspirer of the Yurchenko Team and the creator of the unique 70/30 anchor lift technique. Therefore, a beautiful neckline after a visit to the Yurchenko Team is guaranteed.

To make it as convenient as possible for clients in Europe, Yurchenko Team offers its services in a clinic in Cyprus, for residents of Ukraine – Kyiv or Bukovel.
