More About Surgery

Is it possible to stop time? Our patients confidently say that it is possible after facelifting. Due to the possibilities of plastic surgery, minus 10 years in 2 hours of surgery becomes a reality.

It’s no secret that every woman wants to preserve her youth and beauty. But age makes itself felt primarily through changes in the face. Even if a woman regularly visits a cosmetologist, it is impossible to stop the process of “skin aging” with care products, procedures, and even contouring with fillers.

Facelifting allows correcting even deep age-related changes. A beautiful, clear contour, absence of wrinkles, and a second chin are what patients see after the surgery.

Facelifting: preparation

Consultation. During the visit, the doctor listens carefully to the patient’s wishes, talks the patient through the surgery and rehabilitation and answers all questions. At this stage, the doctor decides on the best course of treatment for those areas of the face that need to be corrected to obtain the perfect natural result.

Medical evaluation. The plastic surgeon assesses the condition of the facial tissues, degree of elasticity, and anatomical features of the patient’s face.

Comprehensive examination. Before the surgery, each patient must perform laboratory tests (complete blood count and urine test, biochemical blood test, glucose in blood, coagulation panel, AIDS, HIV, HBV and HCV tests). It is also necessary to be examined by a general practitioner and anesthesiologist.

How is the facelifting surgery performed?

The plastic surgeon chooses the method of surgery based on the desired result and the individual characteristics of the patient’s facial structure.

Yurchenko Team offers several types of facelifting:

  • Circular
  • Lifting of 2/3
  • Middle third
  • Temporal lifting
  • Neck lifting

A circular facelifting is a surgical procedure that allows you to rejuvenate your face by removing excess skin and tightening muscles. This surgery covers all areas of the face, including the forehead, cheeks, midface, and neck, providing an overall rejuvenating effect. It has a powerful anti-ageing effect.

Facelifting of 2/3 of the face is aimed at correcting the lower and middle third of the face, including the cheeks, the area around the mouth and the chin. It helps to eliminate deep wrinkles and folds, increasing the overall tone.

The middle third of the face, or middle lifting, focuses on the cheeks and chin area. This procedure helps to restore a youthful facial contour by lifting drooping cheeks and reducing nasolabial folds.

Temporal lifting is a technique for lifting the upper part of the face, in particular the temporal zone and the area around the eyes. It effectively removes wrinkles on the forehead and “crow’s feet”, lifting the eyebrows and making the gaze more open.

Neck lifting is intended to correct the neck and chin area. Unfortunately, this area is the first to show age and is almost impossible to rejuvenate with care products and apparatus procedures. Neck lifting helps to remove the “double chin”, improve skin tone and restore a clear neck contour, giving a younger and fresher appearance.

Yurchenko Team offers a comprehensive approach to rejuvenation. During the facelifting, the doctor can perform blepharoplasty, neck rejuvenation, lip surgery, rhinoplasty, lipofilling, depending on the indications and, most importantly, the patient’s desire.

After surgery, the scar remains invisible. Sutures are removed on the 10th day.

Rehabilitation period

A facelifting procedure is a rather complicated surgery, so the plastic surgeon especially emphasizes on the importance of the compliance with all recommendations during recovery. It will allow avoiding complications and speed up the process of returning to a normal lifestyle.

The patient stays in the clinic for 24 hours after the surgery. It is necessary to monitor her general condition, as well as to ensure absolute peace and rest.

Within 14 days, take care of yourself as much as possible. To avoid swelling, sleep with an elevated head in the first 2–3 days. On the 7th and 14th day, the doctor prescribes follow-up to assess the patient’s condition. To prevent inflammation, sutures should not be wet, treat them with chlorhexidine solution once a day instead. It is a prerequisite for successful tissue regeneration.

During rehabilitation, it is necessary to:

  • avoid applying makeup, washing your hair, and wearing lenses for the first two weeks;
  • limit physical activity; avoid low bends, weight lifting, and sudden turns. You can return to your gym routine gradually in a month after surgery.
  • During the first month, avoid smoking, drinking coffee, alcoholic beverages, as well as visiting the sauna, swimming pool, and swimming in open water.
  • To prevent the appearance of pigmentation, avoid the sun for at least the first month after the lifting, wear sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats.

Possible complications

  • Hematomas and seromas are accumulations of blood (hematoma) or serous fluid (seroma) under the skin. The causes of complications include damage to blood vessels during surgery, high blood pressure, and improper bleeding control during the procedure.
  • Infections. Redness and localized fever are a signal of this issue. Reasons: failure to maintain sterile conditions during surgery or improper care of sutures during the postoperative period.
  • Skin necrosis is the destruction of the skin due to insufficient blood supply. It occurs due to excessive skin tension, smoking, and circulatory disorders.
  • Scarring and keloids are excessive formation of scar tissue or keloid scars. It is difficult to prevent scarring. The causes of the complication are genetic predisposition, wound healing disorders, and excessive skin tension.
  • Facial asymmetry. The causes of the complication are improper tension of the skin or tissues, irregular healing.
  • Damage to the facial nerves causes temporary or permanent paralysis of the facial muscles. Complications occur most often due to nerve damage during surgery, especially if the procedure was complex and involved work near the main nerve trunks.

Prevention of complications

It is important to carefully follow the doctor’s recommendations before and after surgery, avoid smoking, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and ensure proper postoperative care to reduce the risk of complications.
